Water:

Interventions in Parys and Tumahole are at an advanced stage after the visit by Deputy Minister Water and Sanitation Mr David Mahlobo. Sedibeng water was appointed and has already started to implement recommendations to ensure safe and clean water supply.

A new borehole has been discovered, in Tumahole, Lusaka next to water reservoir supplying residents with clean water.

While the trident plant is currently out of operation, 17 new jojo tanks have been rolled out, with more water tankers, as a temporary relief to ensure that the community doesn’t struggle with water.

Flushing of underground network has already started while also unblocking old water meters as part of water conservation. Auditing of water meters has already started.

Allocation of sites:

The municipality has already allocated sites to eligible beneficiaries and the signing of Deeds of Occupational Rights between beneficiaries and the Municipality has been concluded. This process is running concurrently with the construction of Services (Bulk infrastructure) by the Department of Human Settlement. Upon completion of the construction, the beneficiaries will physically occupy their sites as per the site numbers allocated to them. Number of sites allocated in Tumahole is 1756.

The Municipality is currently identifying additional land to cater for those who are on the waiting list and has provided them with confirmation letters.

Churches were discouraging from illegal occupation of land and the Director Community Services continues to guide churches to apply for church sites.

The Executive Mayor shall be rolling out the Imbizo throughout all towns to report on service delivery and engage with the community.
