Community announcement regarding Eskom loadshedding

02 June 2021

Eskom on its capacity as a power utility, is currently implementing loadshedding affecting Ngwathe Local Municipality.

This means for those stipulated hours, there won’t be electricity. However, immediately after reconnection, electricity usage becomes increasingly high in certain areas forcing the municipality to implement loadrotation immediately, particularly in areas that are identified to be reaching high level of electricity usage, not in all areas concurrently.

Municipality sends a word of apology to residents who are constantly affected by emergency switch off.

Emergency switch off is implemented urgently to avoid damages on the Eskom electricity station.

This is further affecting water distribution.

The municipality is not yet implementing the full rotational loadshedding but will do so only when there is an overloading as per notification from Eskom to reduce electricity usage.

Residents are kindly requested to continue using electricity wisely by reducing on appliances that are consuming too much electricity, at all times.

Please reduce electricity usage. Residents are further advised to adhere to all COVID-19 regulations and protocols.
